About Sophia Joelle Khotil

Poetic Journey

Sophia Joelle Khotil explores themes of memory and migration. Her writing captures the essence of nostalgia and transformation, inviting readers into her unique perspective.

Sophia came to the United States from the Philippines as a young girl, carrying with her the stories, scents, and memories that continue to shape her work. She now resides in Holly Springs, North Carolina with her husband and three children. A somatic practitioner and sound bath facilitator, Sophia’s work centers on embodiment, healing, and gentle reconnection. When she is not writing or guiding others into stillness, she can be found in her garden or at her pottery wheel, tending to the quiet art of creating with her hands.

Whispers of Sampaguita

Whispers of Sampaguita is a lyrical tapestry of childhood memories, migration, and the quiet inheritances carried across oceans. Through vivid poems rooted in the scent of Sampaguita, the hum of family stories, and the ache of kinship, Sophia traces her journey from the Philippines to America—where belonging is both a pursuit and a question. Each verse gathers moments of tenderness, loss, humor, and resilience, illuminating the small rituals, generational love, and forgotten corners of home that continue to shape her identity. This memoir invites readers to sit inside memory, to honor the people who raised us, and to listen for the soft, enduring whispers of where we come from. Available for purchase on Amazon 12/1/2025.
